HOW IT WORKS
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE
for Dan Nelson to Paint Your Wedding?
1. BEFORE THE WEDDING, Dan will often drive or fly to your wedding venue to check it out.
He will look at it through the eyes of a painter, then consult with you—whoever is responsible for the Wedding Painting decisions—to discuss the best viewpoint to capture in the painting.
We are not locked-in to this decision, but it is often helpful to have a good idea what scene to
paint before the day of the wedding. This conversation will also include rain contingency plans. (Dan can paint a bright sunny day, even if there wasn’t one!) If it is helpful, Dan can produce
a digital rendering to help the client visualize how the finished painting may look.
2. IF THE LOCATION REQUIRES DAN TO TRAVEL, he will make arrangements to arrive
one or two days before the event. If the travel entails flying, there are several items
Dan will procure in the vicinity of the wedding.
3. ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING, Dan will arrive at the venue 2 1/2 to 3 hours before
the event begins. He will meet the wedding planners and the managers of the venue. He will begin taking photos of the environment, and especially of the scene to be painted. If any last-minute changes are made, this will be the time to do it.
4. DAN WILL BEGIN PAINTING the background (architecture or scenery) a couple hours before the wedding or reception begins. He will take step-by-step photos of the painting and produce
a video of these early stages so that the bride and groom can enjoy them later.
5. DAN OR HIS PHOTOGRAPHIC ASSISTANT WILL TAKE MANY
PHOTOS of the ceremony or the first dance—whichever subject the
bride and groom have chosen for the painting. These are the photos
from which the painting will be finished. Dan and his assistants will
select four or five of the best photos and present them to the bride
and groom for their signature of approval.
6. DAN WILL CONTINUE PAINTING throughout the evening, for as long
as the reception lasts. You are not just paying him to do a painting,
you are paying him to entertain you and your guests. Dan loves
chatting with new friends while he paints!
7. AT THE END OF THE EVENING, Dan will have enough of the painting done that you will have
a good idea what the finished painting will look like. After that, he will pack up and head for home—or for bed. He will take the painting home and finish it over the following weeks, shipping it to you after obtaining your approval via email images.
