These albums represent the lion’s share of painting I have done for the past twenty years. Nearly all of them are rendered in multiple layers of acrylics, followed by layers of oil. I call my style Abstract Realism. There is no question that they fit into the category we call Realism, but there are dashes of color, errant lines, shapes and squiggles that insert themselves onto the realism of the image. As an artist, it is my job to know how human eyes work. If I do my job well, the viewer experiences a dash of esthetic pleasure not experienced in mere photo-realistic paintings.
